Counseling:
* Summer School: TEF/SBEA Summer School Program is now accepting applications.  Classes will be offered on site at South & Torrance High as well as some courses being offered on-line. Visit www.TEFSBEA.org for more information, schedule, and how to save money by registering early. A limited number of scholarships are available for this summer program. Please meet with your counselor for the application procedures. Deadline to apply for scholarship is May 1, 2014. (Counseling)

General Announcements:
* Are you an underachiever?  A "C" average student wanting to break out of mediocrity? Well then, South High's award winning academic decathlon team wants you. Though all levels are welcomed, we especially need motivated C average students to round out our team. Applications are still available in V-22 or on the front office display case. For those of you that have already picked one up, the deadline has been extended to Tuesday, EARTH DAY, since next year's theme is about innovations in energy and its sustainability.

* DEBT LIST:  Debt list will be posted outside the Library, F-1, and K-1 on Monday, April 28th.  You must be cleared of all debts before you can purchase Prom tickets, pick up cap and gown, yearbook and purchase a yearbook at the end of the school year.

* Academic Letter and Honor Lists are now posted outside of the Principal’s Office. (Principal)

* The Academic Letter and Honor Roll Reception is next Wednesday, April 23 at 6:00PM in the cafe. Please check the list of recipients that is now posted outside the principal's office for your name and plan on attending the event.  You are invited to join us as we enjoy words of wisdom from our special guest speaker, Megan Duckett, award the PTA scholarships, and recognize student's achievements as they are awarded their Academic Letter with book or lamp patch and certificate, or honor roll certificate.  Help us celebrate the academic excellence at South High.

* FOOD TRUCK FUNDRAISER: Come out and support South High’s Food Truck Fundraiser this Friday, April 18th from 5-8pm in the Student Parking Lot…Ragin Cajun, Don Chow Tacos, Dogtown Dogs, The Grilled Cheese Truck, and King Kone will all be there! Grab some GREAT food, then make your way to the Boys Volleyball game that starts at 6pm versus Burroughs in the Main Gym!

* CONGRATS TO THE 2014 PROM COURT: Mark Araos, Brandon Chavez, Walker Clegg, Andres Eddowes, Mackenzie Fitzpatrick, Jillian Free, Leanne Fukumoto, Erika Goto, Jameson Han, Juli Hirasawa, Matt Jiang, Kenya Johnson, Ryan McClure, Kimby Mungovan, Shiva Nilakantan, Bradley Nothern, Ki Bum Park, Madi Quisenberry, Eva Santy, and Krissy Yabuno. The assembly to announce Prom Court will be during lunch on Wednesday, April 23rd in the Mall and voting for King and Queen will take place on Thursday, April 24th and Friday, April 25th during lunch in K1 for SENIORS ONLY!

* The time has come once again!! Who has got the rhythm, the beat, and is an undercover dance king or queen?  Dancing with the Staff is next Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 6:30pm in the cafeteria.  Come and cheer on your favorite teachers as they battle it out on the dance floor! Who will be victorious?  Will it be Mr. I., Mr. Carothers, Ms. Malone, or the 2012 champion Ms. Cardenas? Don't miss one of the best events of the entire year!! Tickets are $5 at the door.

* The date for Powder Puff football has been extended!! The very last day to turn in your registration and payment will be this Friday, April 18, 2014.  This will be the absolute last day.  Please turn everything in to K-1.

SENIOR ACTIVITY PARENT NIGHT: Will take place in the café on Thursday, April 24th at 7pm. Very important information will be discussed concerning all the senior activities and end-of-year programs that will be coming up. All senior parents are invited to attend!

LIBRARY CONTEST:  The Library will be having a contest (April 14-25); winners will receive a Target or Best Buy gift card.  Please come to the Library for details.

CLASS OFFICER ELECTION PACKETS: Will be available in K1 beginning Thursday, April 17th. Packets are due by April 24th at 3:30

BLUEGRASS IS COMING: Our annual Bluegrass Festival will take place on Friday, April 18th in the Mall during lunch as we welcome our incoming 9thgraders.

* Support Habitat for Humanity by eating at Mexican Riviera on April 22nd and April 29th.  Please pick up a flyer from Y-22 or at Bluegrass.  You must present the flyer with your meal.
