Week 2 AP Testing Schedule
 
Be on time 7:30 for AM tests and 12:00 for PM.
Bring your photo ID (South or CA). If you do not have one, you absolutely cannot sit for your test(s).
Have 2-3 pencils and 1-2 dark blue or black pens.
 
Before entering the library:
1.     Please have your ID (driver’s license, SHS ID, passport) in your hand as you enter. You may not come into the testing area without it. (As they enter, check the ID)
2.     Make sure your electronic “gizmos” are turned OFF; you will place it in a box inside.
3.     Lunches, backpacks, etc. must be left outside the turnstiles.
4.     Nothing (not even jackets) can be at the testing desks/tables except; writing utensils, ID, and calculator if necessary.

*THE DEBT LIST IS NOW POSTED: The Debt List is posted outside F1, K1 and the Library and it is updated everyday. If you are a student who appears on the debt list, you must clear your debt in order to purchase Prom tickets, pick up caps and gowns, pick up yearbooks, or receive graduation clearance. Seniors, especially, are encouraged to check the debt list as Prom tickets go on sale beginning May 22nd. (Hildreth)
 
SPARTAN LAUREL CERTIFICATE WINNERS: A list of all Spartan Laurel Certificate Winners in 12 different categories has been posted outside F1, K1, Admin offices, and the Library. From each category’s list of certificate winners, medal and plaque winners will be awarded at the Spartan Laurels Program on Thursday, May 17th in the Main Gym beginning at 6:30pm. Don’t miss out on this important night to honor the accomplishments of our South High students. (Hildreth)
 
Prom Guest Applications will are available in K1 beginning Wed., April 25th, and are due to the Attendance Office by Friday, May 18th by 3:30pm.
 
Library/Textbooks:  The library will be closed from May 3-18 (7:30 a.m.-3:30p.m.) due to testing.  Please come to the Textbook Room to check out/return textbooks.  You may also return or renew library books. Thank you for your cooperation. (Hagiya)
 
South High Color Guard 2012-2013: Workshops, May 14 – May 17 from 3:30-5:30 pm in the café and/or outside. Tryouts May 18. Come join South High School’s Color Guard; be a part of a great legacy. Travel out of the country, learn dance technique and skill, have fun and meet new people all while performing with the South High School color Guard. We have a flag, saber and rifle waiting for you! Come check it out! If you have questions about Color Guard, the meetings, etc, contact Mr. King or captain, Bianca Mora.
 
Attendance Office Reminder:   To avoid class disruptions, the Attendance Office will not accept any gift items such as flowers, balloons and/or presents to be delivered for students. If student is expecting items such as lunches, books, folders and homework to be dropped off, items will be held in the Attendance Office.   It is the student’s responsibility to pick these items up when time permits – you will not be called to the office.
All student vehicles require a parking permit.  Parking applications can be acquired in the Attendance Office before or after school only. Cost is $2.
Off Campus Pass requests must be turned into the Attendance Office by 8:00am.  Students leaving campus due to illness or personal reasons will not be allowed to return the same day.  If a student has a Doctor, Dental or court appointment, it is permissible to return the same day with a valid Doctor, Dental or court note/receipt.  All Off Campus Pass requests are subject to verification.
Students who are late to school must provide the Attendance Office with a parent/guardian note before going to class. Repeated tardy excuses will be flagged and reported.  To avoid 1st period tardies, the Attendance Office will close at 7:52am (at the 1st bell). We will only accept tardy notes and Off Campus Pass requests after this time. Students may return at break, lunch, or after school with absent notes
 
The May PTA Association Meeting will be held during the Honor Roll Reception in the Cafeteria on May 17 at 5:30pm.  
 
Applications for next years Speech and Debate Team are due Thursday, May 17th. Place in Rivera's Mailbox or drop of in C-3.
 
Any CSF members interested in running for a board position for next year come by K5 to pick up an application.  Completed applications are due to K5 by Monday May 21. (Drehs)

Attention sophomores, juniors, and seniors, the City of Torrance Community Services Dept. is accepting applications for the Youth Volunteer Leadership training Program, which is June 18 – Aug. 17. Sign up deadline is May 29. Applications are available in the Activities Office or online at www.recreation.torranceca.gov.
 
The Torrance Youth Council is seeking representatives for the 2012-2013 year. Applications are due May 24 and are available in K-1 or online at www.recreationtorranceca.gov
 
Are you looking for volunteer hours? Join the S.P.I.N. Club. Meetings are held the first Wed of each month at 5pm at THE ATTIC. The next meeting is June 6. There are many opportunities to receive credit for your volunteer hours.
