AP/Honors Summer Homework 2013/2014
For each Honors/AP class you will take during the 2012/2013 school year, you will be required to complete summer homework by the first day of school. This work will be part of your fall semester grade. All students in Honors/AP classes have made the commitment for the full year. All grades become part of your permanent high school transcript. You MUST attend the summer homework meetings listed below for every class you will be taking.
All meetings are at lunch and begin promptly at 12:25.

PROM TICKET PRICES GO UP ON THURSDAY, MAY 23RD! Beginning Thursday, May 23rd, Prom tickets will go up to $170 w/ASB and $180 w/o ASB per couple in K1 before 1st period, during lunch or after 6th period. Please Note: ICON Lounge, this year’s Prom Site, has a MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF 600 GUESTS!
 
TRUANCIES & DEBTS AND PROM:   Students wishing to purchase Prom tickets must be debt free and have no more than 3 day or period truancies during the 4th quarter in order to buy a ticket for Prom. The Activities Office will have a truancy list on Monday, May 20th and the debt list is posted outside all major offices and is updated daily.
 
Lei orders are being taken now for graduation. Order forms are available in K-1.
 
Library - CLOSED: May 20-24 for CST Make-up Testing.  Please come to Textbook Room during these times for any library/textbook assistance.
 
All students looking to fulfill their UC requirements in Fine Arts; you have the opportunity to take “Fine Arts Seminar” over the summer with Mr. King through the South Bay Enrichment Academy. Sign up on line or get your application in the Counseling Office. This is a great class; you will enjoy it.
 
Interested in Sports Medicine? Get your start as a Student Athletic Trainer! Applications for next year’s Student Athletic Training are available in N-23 (Mr. Taylor’s room) Applications are due by Wed. May 29. (Taylor)
 
There will be a mandatory lunch meeting this Friday in C-3 for the members of next year’s speech and debate team. (Rivera)
 
Blood Drive: Soon you will have a chance to become a donor. Mark your calendars for South's annual blood drive on Thursday, June 6th. If you are at least 17 and 110 pounds then come look for our sign up table near the flag pole at lunch all week long. The blood drive is sponsored by Model UN and if you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Macauley in room V-22. (Macauley)
 
CSF tutoring has started again! Everyone is welcome to receive free tutoring after school Tuesday- Thursdays from 3pm to 4pm. (Drehs)
 
SENIORS: The Grad Night committee will be on the stage at lunch on Fridays (through May 31st) for you to check your balance due, make payments, or sign up to go! There are a few spots left if you can make it to the all night party planned celebrate your graduation. We will also be taking orders for Senior Spartan 2013 blankets.
 
SoCal ROC (formerly SCROC) has two coursed targeted for specific grades: The exciting world of Engineering is for 9th & 10th graders only, meets on Wed. from 3:45-645. It is a great way to explore the many areas of engineering. Students earn 2.5 elective credits for this semester course.
Dental Assisting is available for 11th graders only, meets M-Th from 3:45 – 6:45 and 10 elective credits are awarded for this one semester course. Thinking of becoming a dentist, orthodontist, or dental hygienist, then this is the class for you. A one-year class is available to seniors who completed this class to continue their study of Dental Assisting. Transportation is provided for free for both of these courses. Sign up in the Counseling Office to meet with our representative or call Pam Lawrence @ 310-224-4240 for more information
 
*The South High Choirs will be presenting their Spring Concert on Thursday, May 30, 7:00 p.m. in the South High Cafeteria.  Admission is $5 or a can of food for the LAX Food Pantry.  Come support your fellow students in this last concert of the school year. (eturner)
