Summer School: TEF/SBEA Summer School Program is now accepting applications.  Classes will be offered on site at South & Torrance High as well as some courses being offered on-line. Visit www.TEFSBEA.org for more information, schedule, and how to save money by registering early. A limited number of scholarships are available for this summer program. Please meet with your counselor for the application procedures. Deadline to apply for scholarship is May 1, 2014. (Counseling)

General Announcements:

* Students: Just a reminder for those students who signed up for the Practice SAT this Saturday 4/24.  The start time is 8:30a.m. sharp in the library and will end at 1:00p.m.  Bring a pen, pencil and calculator.  (PTA)

* VOTING FOR PROM KING & QUEEN: Will take place in K1 for SENIORS ONLY during lunch on Thursday, April 24 and Friday, April 25. Students must present their current SHS ID in order to cast their vote.

* SENIOR CONTRACTS ARE DUE: To Mr. Kaneshiro’s office by Friday, April 25 at 3:30. Failure to turn in the contract will result in the student being placed on the debt list.

* PROM GUEST APPLICATIONS: Are available in K1! Apps are due to the Attendance Office by Friday, May 23 at 3:30pm.

* CLASS OFFICER ELECTIONS: Students wishing to run for a Class Council position for next year must turn in a completed application by 4/24. Candidate’s meeting for Juniors and Sophomores will be on Monday, April 28th and the candidate’s meeting for freshmen will be on Tuesday, April 29th. Meetings will take place in K2 during lunch only and they are MANDATORY. Campaigning begins on Tuesday, April 29th.

* CLASS OFFICER ELECTIONS: Voting will take place 4/29 – 5/2 in K3 during lunch only with a current South High ID.

* GRADUATION TICKETS: Will go on sale before school, during lunch or after 3pm in K1 beginning Monday, April 28th. Seniors wishing to purchase additional tickets are limited to 4 tickets each week for $5 each CASH ONLY and seniors must show current South High ID.

Come see South Cheer's National Awarding Wining Cheer Team  as they perform at The Annual Cheer Spectacular. Their Performances, Senior Recognition, Snack Bar & DJ Dewey on Tuesday, April 29th, doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show at 7:00 p.m. in the main gym.  Pre-order tickets available through ASB for $7.  Prices increase at the dorr to $10.

Class of 2016: We need artists to design our next class comp poster. Please submit your design on a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper to Room L-3 by Friday, April 25th.

If you made a Grad Night deposit, the balance is due on Thursday, April 24th for the $165 price. Your balance can be turned in to the box in K1, mailed to the PO Box or at the Senior Parent Meeting. Make sure you include your name and ID # on the check made payable to South High Grad Night. There are also a limited number of tickets remaining that can be purchased for $190 if you have not reserved your spot. Don't miss this fun evening to celebrate your graduation with your friends!

DEBT LIST:  Debt list will be posted outside the Library, F-1, and K-1 on Monday, April 28th.  You must be cleared of all debts before you can purchase Prom tickets, pick up cap and gown, yearbook and purchase a yearbook at the end of the school year.

SENIOR ACTIVITY PARENT NIGHT: Will take place in the café on Thursday, April 24th at 7pm. Very important information will be discussed concerning all the senior activities and end-of-year programs that will be coming up. All senior parents are invited to attend!

* General CSF meeting Tuesday April 29 at lunch in the pavilion. 

Attention all Apollo/Athena members: there is a mandatory meeting this Friday, April 25th. We will be introducing policy changes and plans for next year, as well as discussing upcoming events.

Support Habitat for Humanity by eating at Mexican Riviera on April 22nd and April 29th.  Please pick up a flyer from Y-22 or at Bluegrass.  You must present the flyer with your meal.

Drill Team try-outs are just around the corner: April 28-May 2. There will be an informational meeting after school in the Library at 3:30 on April 22. If parents have any questions, there will be a meeting in the library at 6:30 pm that evening. Feel free to speak with Ms Harris in Y-3 if you would like more information!
