ABSENCE NOTE REMINDER: An absence note MUST be submitted to the Attendance Office within 2 days of your return from an absence.  If you do not bring your note, the absence will result in a truant that you cannot clear. The Attendance Office opens at 7:30 am and closes at 7:52 am but we will accept tardy notes or Off Campus Pass requests after this time.  Absent notes can also be turned in during break, lunch, or after school.  Remember, 3 full day truancies or 3 single period truancies means you will NOT be able to attend school dances.  (Attendance)
 
Early Out Stickers:  Starting Feb. 9th a new early out sticker will be required for students who leave after 4th period.  The Security desk at the front door of the Administration building will issue the new sticker starting Feb. 9th.  You will be required to present your I.D. card with sticker to Security as you leave. During the month of February and two weeks in March, TUSD will again offer the residents of the City of Torrance only, the opportunity to apply for open enrollment.  Information and applications are available in the Principal’s office. (Principal).
 
JUNIORS: Please sign up and attend the Countdown to College& Career Workshop on College Entrance Exams (SAT/ACT) scheduled for Wednesday, February 10th-period 5 in our Library. Sign up in the Counseling Office today & get your Activity Pass (teachers need 24 hours notice). ( McGarry)

*Job Shadow Event: This TUSD field trip offers students an opportunity to visit and explore local businesses/professions. Participants include; Doubletree Hotel, City Attorney, Fire Department, Torrance Airport, YMCA (Fitness/Administration), Robinson Helicopters (Aviation/Mechanical), Phenomenex (Medical Tech), Police, Pediatric Therapy Network, Starlink (Graphic Design), Torrance City Yard (Mechanical), Bartlett Senior Center, and Torrance Parks (Community Planning/Development). If you are interested in attending this event on February 24th stop by the counseling office today, space is limited. (Polun)
 
*Financial Aid: Seniors that requested that their GPA be submitted electronically can now establish a WebGrant check account by logging into https://mygrantinfo.csac.ca.gov after you receive your Student Aid Report (SAR) from the government acknowledging receipt of your FAFSA form. If anything is wrong, please contact your counselor immediately so corrections can be made. If you need to complete the paper application you will need to go onto the CSAC website at www.csac.ca.gov and print out a paper form. Bring this to your Counselor to sign and verify your GPA. Please remember this is only for students who did not turn in the release form for electronic submission of their GPA from TUSD.
 
Seniors going to El Camino should apply online now at www.elcamino.edu and then take the Placement Tests at ECC Assessment Center Monday – Thursday after school. Following these two steps, you will be able to schedule an orientation & counseling appointment which will allow you to register for classes. Procrastinating will further your difficulty in getting desired classes. (Counseling)

Jostens will be at South High FOR THE LAST TIME to take orders from those seniors who have not purchased their caps, gowns, stoles and tassels on Wednesday, February 10th, AT LUNCH TIME ONLY!!!! Black & White Guest Applications are now available in K1 before school, during lunch or after 3pm. Guest Apps are due to the ATTENDANCE OFFICE no later than Friday, February 12th by 3:30pm. (Hildreth)
 
BLACK AND WHITE DANCE: 1) You must be cleared of all debts before you can purchase Black and White dance tickets. Debt list will be posted in front of the Library, F-1 and K-1 Thursday, Feb. 11th. 2) If you have received 3 or more, day, or period truancies during the 2nd quarter to present, you will not be able to attend the dance. BLACK AND WHITE TICKET: Tickets will go on sale starting Tuesday, Feb. 16th, before school, during lunch and after 3:00. Feb. 16th & 17th, ticket prices will be $75.00 w/ASB and $80.00 w/o ASB per couple. Feb. 18th & Feb. 19th tickets per couple will be $80.00 w/ASB and $85.00 w/o ASB. Feb. 22nd & Feb. 23rd tickets per couple will be $85.00 w/ ASB and $90.00 w/o ASB. Last day to purchase tickets is Feb. 24th, ticket price will be $95.00 with or without ASB. (Hirayama)
 
Activities Office (K-1) and Business/Athletics Office (F-1) Hours: K-1 and F-1 are open from 7:30 – 8:00 am, during lunch and after 2:52 pm. During class time, the offices focus on their many other transactions and responsibilities, not to mention, we support & respect your curriculum and instruction time.
